Denis Mugume got born again in a Moslem founded secondary school calledKibuli Secondary School in Kampala, Uganda in 2005. I felt the calling of theLord in my O’ Level and when I returned to the same school for my A’ Level I was called to serve as a ‘Chapel Prefect’ for the Christian Students Fellowship in the school. The Lord used this time to shape me into the students’ ministry.
I later on was admitted to Makerere University in 2009 where I pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science. And I also served as the ‘PrayerSecretary’ for the Non-Residents Fellowship under the Makerere University MainChristian Union. And my passion for students’ ministry was further stirred. I also co-founded a student ministry organization called Pacesetters’ Initiative for Africa with Mr. Peter Dusabe in 2012 that is now currently based in Mbarara, Western Uganda. I graduated from Makerere University Kampala in 2013and in 2015 was called to serve as full-time staff at the same university at St. Francis Chapel as the Youth and Students’ Minister till today.
I got an opportunity to study in 2017 for a Certificate of TheologicalStudies at Wycliffe Hall, an Evangelical College at the University of Oxford in the UK. And also pursued a Certificate of Christian Apologetics at the OxfordCentre for Christian Apologetics (The OCCA) and graduated in 2018. I later returned to Makerere University in 2019 and continued to work and serve among students till present. The Lord has given me a unique opportunity to minister to youth and students getting ready to join the mission field. And I believe that student ministry is such a powerful tool of spiritual formation and grounding for the students to the ministries and offices they will be called to after their school and for the bigger purpose of God’s kingdom.
