We met pregnant Abibata in the company of other women at a well in Sandu and shared the good news of Salvation with them. On our next visit to the community we met her again. This time, she gladly prayed to receive Christ into her heart after sharing God’s plan of salvation with her. Abiba shared her prayer need with us and we agreed with her in prayer. She had been pregnant for over twelve months – a situation that had brought ridicule to her and the family. We regularly prayed for her and encouraged her to have faith in God while waiting for the doctor’s decision. Our hearts were filled with joy when Abiba finally delivered a girl through caesarian section. But a few days later Abiba’s adorable baby girl went to be with Jesus.
The amazing thing however is that, through teaching her the word of God, she took consolation from the word of God and shares with us how her experience of grief has even strengthened her faith.
And just like the woman at the Well in the John 4, Abiba’s faith and testimony is drawing her husband and her household to believe in Christ Jesus. The husband who was skeptic and reserved, is now opening up to us, sharing his personal challenges and those of his family with us to continue to intercede on their behalf.
